Cogentrix is focused on the development of renewable power, primarily solar electric generation. To support our efforts in the solar sector, the Company recently added staff with significant expertise in solar power development and has developed relationships with several leading international companies in the construction and operation of solar thermal generation.

Currently, Cogentrix is focusing its efforts on photovoltaic and concentrating photovoltaic technologies. The Company believes solar power has tremendous potential for becoming a more significant part of the future U.S. electric generation supply. Technological advancements, falling raw material costs, efficiency improvements in the manufacturing of the components for solar generating plants and state and federal incentives and regulatory mandates are expected to result in a large and attractive market for solar power.

Cogentrix intends to expand its U.S. based solar portfolio business through development of new projects and the acquisition of existing assets or projects in late stage development. The company currently owns and operates Sunray, a 43 MW project in Califrornia and is constructing a 30 MW project in Colorado and is pursuing additional solar opportunities.
