NORTHHAMPTON

Northampton is a 112 MW anthracite waste coal-fired electric facility in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Cogentrix owns a 22.5% interest in Northampton, and wholly-owned subsidiaries of Cogentrix operate and manage Northampton. Northampton uses CFB technology to cleanly and efficiently convert low value, low cost waste coal into power. Northampton achieved commercial operations in September 1995 and operates under a long-term PPA with Metropolitan Edison, an operating utility under FirstEnergy Corporation, Inc.
