RICHMOND

Richmond is a 240 MW coal and tire derived fuel fired cogeneration facility in Richmond, Virginia utilizing stoker technology. Richmond began commercial operations in 1992 and provides Virgina Electric and Power Company with declared production capability of approximately 200 MW under two PPAs expiring in 2017. The Richmond facilitysells steam to E.I. DuPont De Nemours and Company through a power and steam sales agreement. It is equipped with a baghouse for the control of particulate emissions, a spray dryer absorption FGD system and an enhanced over-fire air/flue gas recirculation system for control of nitrogen oxides. Cogentrix operates and owns 20% of Richmond.
