Position Summary:

The person holding this position provides supervisions to the plant operations and maintenance personnel for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of generating equipment under the general direction of the Operations Vice President. He/She manages the daily operation of the facility to insure that the environment and plant personnel are safe. The person in the position develops and maintains start-up, shutdown, normal, abnormal and emergency operations procedures, monitors and tracks plant operating performance, and prepares operating and outage reports. He/She ensures that all plant operations are performed in compliance with all permits, laws and regulations. He/She also plans, schedules and supervises the preventative, corrective and overhaul maintenance of all power plant electric generating and associated plant equipment to assure the plant is operated in a reliable, safe and efficient manner. He/She plans and coordinates maintenance activities to minimize forced outages; develops and maintains preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance procedures; and coordinates and monitors the activities of contractors.

This position will be located in the west Chicago area within commuting distance of Elgin and East Dundee, IL. The position will also require periodic travel to the Tilton facility located near Danville,

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all operations and maintenance of the facility with maximum efficiency.
  2. Supervise the team of O&M technicians, administrative assistant and EHS specialist to ensure the staff performs at the required level as an effective and motivated team.
  3. Maintain good relationships with key suppliers to ensure site material and contractor needs are met
  4. Plan and coordinate plant maintenance as required to maximize plant availability.
  5. Ensure that production is cost effective.
  6. Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed
  7. .Optimize resource utilization by implementation an effective work schedules and Paid Time Off (PTO).
  8. Assure adherence to the company’s policies and goals
  9. .Coordinate plant production per contracts and owners representatives.
  10. Contribute to the development and periodic updates of operations and maintenance procedures
  11. .Provide operations training and qualification programs.
  12. Make expeditious and appropriate decisions to non-routine plant operating situations.
  13. Prepare accurate plant documentation, to ensure that proper historical records and reporting of plant operation and maintenance is completed.
  14. Participate in planned shift coverage at the discretion of the General Manager.
  15. Formulate and execute projects assigned by the Operations Vice President.
  16. Ensure that safety guidelines are followed.
  17. Assist with the development of outage schedules, including detailed task descriptions, required resources and manpower, estimates, and task assignments.
  18. Track improvement of planned outages. Coordinate, set-up, and implement standard operating procedure for all production operations.

Required Job-Related Qualifications:

  1. Associates’ degree is preferred or equivalent industry experience, or a technical diploma/high school diploma with plus ten (10) years’ experience in a related industry.
  2. Demonstrated strong technical and managerial capability.

Essential Physical Requirements:

May perform repetitive and non-repetitive physical duties requiring lifts, pushing, pulling, stretching, bending, climbing, working in awkward potions and lifting up to 50 pounds.
